The Princeton University 69kV Substation puts forth a new power station and distribution network that will support the current University and future growing campus electrical needs for decades to come.

This project improves reliability for the nearly 13M gross square feet of world class facilities comprising this Ivy League institution. With an expanding campus underway to meet Princeton’s 10 year campus plan, this substation was a necessity to ensure ample capacity was in place to meet the growing infrastructure demands.

This project consisted of nearly 13 miles of underground ductbank that travels 1900 feet under Lake Carnegie from West Windsor.  The distribution network comprises over 68 miles of electrical conduit with a custom jacketed 35kV cable, supplying dual redundant feeds to Princeton’s two existing 26kV substations.  The 69kV substation located in West Windsor township has two services feeding the station ready for a third to be connected when PSE&G completes their upcoming station expansion.
